Recently I made a running list of things I enjoy. I forget what prompted me to do so, but admittedly I probably needed a reminder in the moment. I counted 74 so far, and the range extends from people to concepts to places to activities and beyond. It also serves as a gratitude list, and just reading it reminds me how much life there is to enjoy. Some are little things like cool socks, some are deep like the point a stranger becomes a friend. Some are great ideas for self care (almost all of them), and some are great ideas for mindfulness (anything that involves being present to fully enjoy the thing). Last week was challenging, but today I recognize the challenges as opportunities for growth. Even as you’re growing you need to take care of yourself. So. To myself. I commit to returning to the list more often and engaging with these 74+ items throughout the week. And then, I also commit to add to it. Because there are definitely more than 74 reasons to be thankful, and there are absolutely more than 74 things in life to enjoy.
