So a few girls have asked... NO I DO NOT WAIST TRAIN! The compression vest I wear is not to waist train, it’s to support my core! After all the surgeries and damage my disease has done to my bowel, my core has become very weak. Sadly I can’t train core to help with spinal support because of the risks and possible further damage to my internal. Wearing a weight belt causes pressure to one area of my stomach when I lift heavy, so as I substitute I use a compression vest to provide the support I need. It also helps me with posture, digestion and bloat prevention. It’s not extremely tight like the “ Kardashian’s”. Few days ago I found a new way to overload my pistol squats at my own Place! Doing a 3x3 with my 10kg weight vest and my 32kg kettlebell! In the past I never did Pistols with my lifting shoes on, so I would fall backwards when wearing the vest. Now with the support of the shoes it balanced it out perfectly. In general pistol squats are an anterior dominant exercise which really load your quadriceps but in this case since the weight was distributed a little more towards the back of my body, it changed the emphasis, which in this version involves a lot more of my posterior chain muscles to support me, which I felt was nicely balanced out, since my quads also still had plenty of work to do! Worked on her reactivity and obedience outside yesterday. I haven't taken her to a park in a long time, she contracted parvo when we first got her and after that is when I realized how bad get reactivity is. As y'all know we've been working on reactivity on daily walks so it was time to take her somewhere she would see dogs. She did really well around people she was focusing on people but would stop quickly when I said her Kaia. We went to the parking lot of the school next door and worked on her recall which is better than Mona's. On the way back her hackles went up as she saw the other dogs and planted her feet. She didn't lunge or bark at the other dogs though. I was happy with that. Do y'all have any recommendations for getting her to focus more on me, or what works with your dogs? Cont. In comments
