Glimpses of Winters cool fresh light, Solstice is on the way. I honour the Equinox's and solstice's each year, in a quiet and contemplative way, I'm feeling really inspired to celebrate them more as a family, perhaps making a nature inspired craft with Niah, reading through her seasonal books, going out for a walk and sitting down to a special dinner together. Honouring nature and the seasons has become such an intrinsic part of my being, I find it so grounding. Does anybody have any other ideas for ways to celebrate? Happy Friday all x

‘Our snow was not only shaken from white wash buckets down the sky, it came shawling out of the ground and swam and drifted out of the arms and hands and bodies of the trees; snow grew overnight on the roofs of the houses like a pure and grandfather moss’- Dylan Thomas (from A Child’s Christmas in Wales) ❄️ #seasonspoetry

The slide made of concrete. Bring your cardboard and go for a ride. Both kids loved it.

Real moment. I am awkward having my picture taken. I would much rather set up a tripod so no one could see me and do whatever. But I wanted some pictures to remember this moment. My hubby always cracks me up he takes a million photos and zooms in closer and closer till the phone is right in my face and this is what you see. 😂

😂 this one is just funny. I decided to take a path I thought was the faster route but it wasn’t the right direction. It looked less rocky and I was tired of mud and rocks. Little did I know we would have to climb down a mountain with snake holes everywhere and giant slugs the size of your fist. I feel like every time I go for a new hike I realize I need some nature training man. 😂 maybe a compass. I don’t know.

She was so happy to be on a dirt path. It didn’t matter the hike was really long. They loved it. I don’t know the secret to a good hike yet. I’ve tried everything. I’ll keep trying. This one was pretty dangerous. Maybe that’s why they liked it. 😂

Every been to church on vacation? It’s very rare I would attend a church on vk unless it’s with people we know. Well first time trying to go somewhere we know no one. Our intent was to see Francis Chan, but it was raining and it seemed like it wasn’t happening. So we went to another church I found. The location was cool. It was a coop farm in San Francisco. We walked in and there was a long table with only about 10 people hanging out. No children. 😬 They were having a special thanksgiving brunch. And here I was hoping to be a fly on the wall in the back. Everyone is staring. 😂 we ended up saying no to brunch but I felt inspired by the location.

One of the memorable hikes from our trip. I decided to take the kids on my own for a short hike. We do this all the time at home, how hard could it be.I forget how difficult it is carrying stuff, helping a kid go to the bathroom when you are wearing a baby and a backpack. And then my five year old decided she didn’t like walking on the pavement, she wanted the rocky ground path and refused to walk. Then she screamed the whole way back. People stared, or smiled, or made a comment, one person told me to give them m&ms to motivate them. 😂 I just smiled and said thank you. What I really wanted to say was, thanks but no thanks. Why not just give me a high five and sAy you are doing a great job mama. Why not cheer me on. One guy made a joke that I was abusing my children. I mean really? Because they are crying? He was kidding but really? Why not, Can I help you get you in some way? Can we let go of the awkwardness of offering someone help? Can we give people high fives and cheer them on? Can we be genuinely happy for someone that’s doing well? Can we do the boring monotonous things with excitement and grace? I don’t have all the answers but I am clinging to hope. I can start by being brave. Doing hard things and spreading love. The never ending unconditional kind of love. Hate has no place here. 💗#thecryhike
