When I was a little girl, my mom used to give us crackers with creamy butter and thin sliced ham. Omg..so good! It wasn't until I started to love culinary arts that I realized it was a take on French jambon beurre. In English it's a ham and butter sandwich. Another reason why I love French food, it can be so simple but damn good. Instead of your American ham and cheese with mayo or mustard, lettuce and tomato and cheese. Try jambon beurre. It's so easy, it's not even going on my blog. You'll need a good french bread. Bayonne ham is traditional but can be substituted. I did, I used a french country lightly smoked ham or smoked ham of your choice. Have it sliced thin. French butter. I used French and added the picture of what I used but any good quality butter, even European style will do. Cornichons are used but optional. Spread room temp butter on bread. Lay ham same length of bread. Eat and 😃. You can add radishes. Arugula. Mustard and cheese but it's a delicious, simple sandwich. I love it that way. Occam's razor= usually the most obvious solution is the right solution. Goes great with a Arugula salad. You can make jambon beurre for a party appetizer. Open face it and slice it into bite sized pieces too. France is the only country in the world where sandwiches still out sell hamburgers.
