Daily Divination: The FoolWhen The Fool turns up, it’s a signal that you’re about to embark on a new journey (which can be literal or metaphorical). The Fool is a card of new experiences; you’re about to experience a new chapter in your life. You’re getting a chance to wipe the slate clean and start fresh—what will you do with it?The Fool can suggest that wherever this new chapter takes you, you may feel somewhat inexperienced for it—but that’s okay! You can’t always know everything going in—sometimes you have to learn along the way. Sometimes the best experience comes when you, as Nike so fondly says, “just do it.” There will always that phase or stage where you’re the beginner, the novice, the one who's “green” and just starting out. In that sense, The Fool is each and every one of us.The Fool can also suggest having a sense of awe and wonder about it all; it’s about seeing your world with a fresh set of eyes, with a child-like innocence (The Fool can sometimes represent birth and children in their formative years). What new way could you view —and therefore have a new experience of—your life today? The Fool is a card that can tell us to take that leap, as The Fool stands on the edge of a high rise in New York City. It’s a leap of faith, knowing and trusting that Source—the Universe—has your back, and will support you along the way.For some of us (myself included), that first step can be a scary one to take. For some, The Fool can suggest being carefree and spontaneous, and for others, it can mean being foolish and reckless. And, while I’m on the subject of taking that first step, The Fool in this deck carries an underlying message: The figure on this card was modeled after the deck’s creator, who started this project as Robert—and completed it as Robin. The Fool can come up when you’re trying to fit in, trying to conform to what the world wants you to be; the personal story of the deck’s creator is a message that some journeys in life have the power to truly be transformative—in the end, you return to where you started a totally different person—either physically, spiritually, or both. With that in mind—are you prepared to take that first step?
