My name is Breanna Chanelle Phillip, and at the age of 14 I was sexually abused multiple times, and then again at the age of 21. _______________________It took a while for me to be able to own that truth. It took a while for me to be able to speak that truth without flinching, without feeling ashamed, without feeling as if I was the one who did something wrong by being so damn "abusable".It took a while for me to accept that my body was not a demolition tool. It took me a while to accept that I am still worthy of love and capable of receiving it.I wrote "Nineteen93" because I believe in the power of story telling, and I believe that our voices are at times much more powerful than our silence. I wrote "Nineteen93" because at a time when I needed someone to say, "me too" I had no one. I wrote "Nineteen93" because I wanted people to know that it is okay to use our voices and speak up for ourselves. "Nineteen93" is my "me too" statement, and I pray that is does exactly what it was intended to do. Your Story Matters.
