MUMBAI | 2017—————————————Finally, it happened. Mumbai Happened. I’m not a “traveler” traveler, I’m a work traveler. My work takes me to places. Mumbai was always on my list but somehow could never visit. Ragini ( @onetraveladdict ) , has been living there since 3 Years now and all the stories she told me about this city, it got me even more curious. As we were wandering around the city with my trolley bag, she said “ Mumbai sabko accommodated karta hai” , and I realised, it was so apt! I was there for two days and I was so comfortable. Roaming around with all my luggage and my camera in hand , I never felt like I’m out of place. Though I’m a Delhiite , mumbai has that vibe that it turns you into a Mumbaikar irrespective of who you are or where you come from. ————————————#asgsnap #adayoutofthemediocrity #mumbai #india #travel #travelphotography #picoftheday #photography #photooftheday #instagood #igers #work #worktravel #gatewayofindia #nikon

You have probably seen the Gateway of India a lot of times...but #didyouknow this? 🏛 • Gateway of India was built in the year 1920 by the Government of India. • The nature of the building is that of a gateway. • The foundation of the building was laid on March 31, 1911. • It was in 1914 that Indian Government sanctioned the design for the monument. The design was given by George Wittet. • The cost of the construction was a sum of Rs. 21 lakh, borne mainly by the Government of India. • For lack of funds, the approach road to the Gateway was never built. This is why it stands at an angle to the road leading up to it. • The Gateway has been built from yellow basalt and reinforced concrete. • While it is Indo-Saracenic in architectural style, elements are derived from the Muslim architectural styles of 16th century Gujarat and local styles of architecture as well. • The central dome is 15 meters in diameter and reaches to a height of 26 meters above ground. • The Viceroy, Earl of Reading inaugurated the gateway in Mumbai, on December 4, 1924.Pc @curly.tales #gatewayofindia #gateway #iconic #landmark #mumbai #mumbaidiaries #igers #instashot #instadaily #mumbaiicons #victorian #architecture #fromehereistand #indosaracenic #indianmonuments#mumbailifestyles

A couple of weeks ago I posted a photo of the Watson's Hotel and was told by some of you lovely people that it was a place that didn't allow dogs and Indians during the British Raj. This incident inspired Jamsetji Tata to build this majestic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.It opened on December 16th, 1903 and still stands strong, while today, the Watson's Hotel looks dilapidated.......#tajmahalpalacehotel #tajmahalhotel #TajMahal #Mumbai #Tata #architecture #BritishIndia #incredibleindia #India #love #Strength #history #gatewayofindia #Indian #hotel #dome #birds #fly #travel #explore #wanderlust #traveldiaries #travelblog #streetsofmumbai #exploreyourcity #footprintsnoboundaries #colaba #canon #g7xmii
