Put a cushion on it!I know, some of you won’t understand why I decided to cover up the wonderful boards in this piece. Borrowing from the talented @jbowerengraving some may even consider it #unnecessaryembellishment But that’s the wonderful thing about exhibition work, you can design for yourself. When I first arrived at the gallery a couple of people quizzed me about the program thinking there was a mistake in the description that said said “bench seat, Australian Beech and leather.” But in what is appearing to be a bit of a habit, I arrived at the party half dressed you might say 🤭I collaborated with John of Hyde Leather on this aspect of the design. There were a few hiccups, not by John but in my understanding of how the final piece would look and underestimating the time it takes to hand cut and weave the leather. Is it better late than never? In my opinion yes. I know those gorgeous boards are there.
