🚨STOP🚨 Are you loading your shoulders before bench day? If not, add this to your warm-ups! Most common mistake I see when people are benching is that they don't retract (or pinch) their shoulders before they begin the lift. This pinch engages the chest more when benching because it eliminates dominate use of the front delts and triceps. The movement I'm doing here is simple. It is a great way to set your mind up before benching and actually thinking about pinching the shoulder blades. It is also a great way to warm-up you rotator cuff!All you have to do is take a moderately light kettle bell (or dumbbell) and lie on your back on the floor with your knees up as shown in the video. Then you take the kettle bell and begin with it on your chest. This is your starting position. Next weave your hand through and press as if you were benching with one arm. Use your opposite hand and hook grip your elbow that is holding the kettle bell. This will help you stabilize during the movement. Don't forget to pinch your shoulder blades! (Imagine there's a quarter on your back and you are trying to bend it) You should feel your rear delt on the floor. Finally, to initiate the movement SLOWLY rotate internally and externally while trying to keep your wrist straight. Do this for a set of 10 and slowly put the weight back down. Do the same with the other side. As an aspiring physical therapist I've noticed, the shoulders, the hips, and the knees are the most common to get injured. Take care of them now so you don't have to see me in the future! 👨‍⚕️ #TwentySecondTipTuesday
