Kalimat Publishing, an imprint of Kalimat Group, a Sharjah-based Emirati publishing group dedicated to publishing Arabic books, presented the latest offerings from the young Emirati author, Dubai Abulhoul, at a book signing ceremony at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) on Friday.The 21-year-old, who published her first book aged just 16, greeted the crowds at the fair, which is taking place at the Expo Centre Sharjah until Nov.11, to promote three books, Umm Al Subianne’ (The Mother of Two Boys), ‘Qawm Al Dasees’ (The Dasees Family), and ‘Khattaf Rifai’ (The Genie Khattaf Rifai). The stories have helped raise awareness of Emirati heritage through a modern writing style which stirs children’s imagination and stimulates their curiosity.Her debut novel, a creative science-fiction story with the title ‘Galagolia: The Hidden Divination’, is the first Emirati fantasy novel in the English language. She was the youngest novelist to participate in the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature in 2012 and the youngest speaker at the TEDx Conference in Dubai, where she spoke about her experience and achievements at just 13 years. “I wrote these titles because of my personal passion for Emirati heritage and my beliefs in helping other children understand its importance. The books published by Kalimat blend authentic heritage with folktales and stories that have been passed down through generations,” the author said.
