📸 Octography on fb !💖-Day 3 of cosplay construction write-ups!For Princess Tutu, I tried to use as many traditional ballet costume-making techniques as I could without straying far from the anime silhouette. There’s still a lot of things I want to change before I wear her again, but I’m super happy I finished one of my dream cosplays!—First I started out drawing my own reference to write out all the components I wanted! I didn’t stick too closely to this one but it always helps.—WIG / FEATHERS—-This was an @ardawigs Inigo in light pink!-The feather headpiece is made up of 5-7 rooster hackle patches I found on amazon glued onto a headband and decorated with Swarovski rhinestones.—ACCESSORIES—-The crown I 3D modeled using Maya and printed in HIPs filament on one of my school 3D printers. All of the gold accessories were painted with the same Krylon gold spray paint. It attaches to the wig with snaps.-The necklace was laser cut from acrylic sheets, painted with ink dye, and then glued together with e6000. I cut out more pieces than I needed because they’re so fragile!-The pointe shoes are Grishko 2007s (my favorites!!) which I dyed with watered down red ink, and then powdered to make them matte.-The arm poofs I need to redo lololol they’re too rectangular.-The wings are just sparkly wired organza. I made a wing “sleeve,” put in the wing-shaped wire, and hand sewed it around the edge while it was inside.-The blue tails are too short but they’re crinoline tubing you can get on Etsy!—BODICE AND TUTU—-These were both a pretty involved process and are made differently from typical bodices/petticoats.-I mostly used the tutorial “Constructing a Traditional Ballet Tutu” from The University of Akron on Youtube. Instead of gathering, I double-hand-pleated each layer (more tuts on youtube). I used steel boning instead of rigalene.-The tulle and netting are specifically for ballet tutus and are from tutu . com.-The bodice I made a duct tape pattern for and made 3 more muslins to get the shape right.-The plate (white skirt) is a circle skirt with 1” horsehair braid.-I was gonna make my own lace applique but opted for feathers and rhinestones.
