Today we booked a family day and all went to #toddlertakeover at @we_the_curious in #bristol. I've been desperate to go for ages and it was SO worth the wait. It's right by the harbourside with a park and ride stop outside, parking at Millenium Car Park underneath, or a 5 min bus ride from Temple Meads station. The whole venue is spread over two floors and is completely wheelchair and buggy friendly. There's a picnic spot if you want to take lunch instead of using the cafe (where they do everything from waffles to lattes), a shop and even a bloody planetarium. This place is mad and brilliant - we made flour, milked a cow, went inside a fake womb, made sushi, pretended to be bees collecting nectar, made bubbles bigger than the walls, built houses, listened to stories, made crowns, learnt how things fly, give birth and grow, why things smell and how sound works. The centre has versions of play for everyone and could keep children entertained for weeks. It's so big that it didn't feel crowded at all, and even though we were there FOUR hours (sugar, give me goddamn sugar) we still didn't see or do everything. Also, my secret favourite bit was that everyone felt completely normal. Parents were shouting, others were in their own world, everyone was interacting with something, children were all over the place, some half dressed and some covered in bubble slime - no-one was wearing fancy clothes or pretending life is clean and fantastic. It felt very good, very realistic and really easy. Such a good day out, I really recommend going. The centre is connected to the @wellcomecollection in #london has they're both supported by the Wellcome Trust. The venue used to be called AtBristol but recently underwent re-branding.Toddler takeover tickets are half the usual ticket price, so look on the website and book for a takeover day in advance - they're usually every couple of months and on a Friday.
Don't miss the highly entertaining and very fun @super_pirates every Friday morning 10 - 12 @komedia_bath. Only £3 entry and adults are FREE. Two hours of unadulterated mania - wear those children out in time for lunch and a nap. Yes please. Also the Komedia #artscafe does a mean coffee AND there's a baby changing/disabled access toilet right by the play space so nice and easy. Phewwww, sounds like exactly what the #cityofbath was looking for. All they need are #lunchboxes for the children and it'd be the ultimate play date. Weeeeeee
